Raymond Caswell

Success Story

Raymond Caswell is an 80-year-old retired concrete form setter who lives in Johnstown, Colorado. Married for 19 years, he enjoys fishing, yard work, and spending time with his family, including two children and 10 grandchildren.

After experiencing progressive weakness and back pain, Raymond was diagnosed with COVID-19. His condition led to recurrent falls and led to pelvic fractures. In addition, he experienced post-COVID pneumonia and respiratory failure.

After initial treatment, Raymond was admitted to Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital (NCRH), where he had previously been a patient and knew it was “the nicest facility around.” Despite his challenges, Raymond was determined to regain strength, improve function, and manage his pain effectively. His treatment included three hours of intensive therapy per day, which he says was amazing.

“I enjoyed doing therapy,” he says. “The therapists are very professional and highly trained.

Throughout his stay, Raymond expressed his appreciation for the expertise demonstrated by the hospital staff. “My nursing team and physician were wonderful,” Raymond says. “Every single employee has been outstanding.”

By the time of his discharge, Raymond reached a major milestone and was able to walk again with the aid of a front-wheeled walker. He looks forward to returning home and reuniting with his family and his dogs. He anticipates resuming his favorite activities, such as shopping and dining out.

Raymond’s ultimate goal is to regain enough strength to travel and visit his family in Florida. With his improved functional abilities and the continued support of his family, he is optimistic about achieving this goal.
