Mark Haver
Success Story
Mark Haver, a 67-year-old retired rancher from Rawlins, Wyoming, is a devoted father of four and grandfather of two. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, yard work, and target shooting.
Since this past spring, however, Mark faced worsening abdominal pain and multiple hospitalizations related to pancreatitis complications, which required several surgeries. Because of this, Mark lost strength, endurance, and muscle tone.
Familiar with the area and facility, Mark chose to receive rehabilitative care at Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital (NCRH) based on a recommendation from the acute care hospital. When he first arrived at NCRH, he needed a wheelchair for mobility. After working with the interdisciplinary healthcare team who created an individualized care plan for his recovery, Mark progressed to using a front-wheeled walker and then a cane to move about.
“It’s very comfortable being here,” Mark says. “Everyone takes care of me. I never have to use my call light—they just always check on me. The staff and schedule have been great. I would recommend this place to anyone; it has been a fantastic experience.”
Mark is excited about returning home. After months of being in hospitals, he’s ready to ride in a car again and get back to his outdoor activities. He’s looking forward to shoveling snow for his daughters, who provided amazing support to him through all his hospitalizations.
