Luisa Casiano

Success Story

Luisa Casiano of Greeley, Colo., was enjoying an active retirement. She spent her time dancing, reading, walking in the park, fishing, and spending time with her significant other, children, and grandchildren.

After suffering a stroke due to high blood pressure, she experienced paralysis on the left side of her body and aphasia, which affected her ability to communicate. Following her initial acute care treatment, she chose Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital for continued inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.

“Everything has been good,” she says. “The service has been great, and all the employees are very friendly. I couldn’t walk before, but I’m now walking again with help from my healthcare team. My therapists have spent a lot of time teaching me how to use different adaptive equipment so I can manage everyday life better.”

Having completed her inpatient treatments, Luisa presently participates in the hospital’s outpatient program where she receives therapy to assist with her walking, balance, communication, and reading. “The outpatient coordinator is always so sweet and helpful,” Luisa says.

Luisa continues on her road to recovery, and can now walk with a cane, cook, read, and watch her favorite movies.
