Jerold Rivera

Success Story

While on a business trip in Colorado, Jerold Rivera, a 52-year-old graphic designer from New Jersey, developed osteomyelitis, an infection of the bone, and had his right foot amputated.

Jerold’s case manager at the acute care hospital referred him to Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital for rehabilitation following the amputation.

“The staff was very patient and cared about my recovery,” Jerold says. “The therapists were top-notch. They cared about me as a person and wanted me to do my best. The nursing staff always had great conversations with me and met all my needs. And, the food was great!”

Prior to the amputation, Jerold enjoyed cooking and bodybuilding. After his discharge from the hospital, he decided to relocate to Colorado. Once he receives his prosthetic, he plans to return to his everyday routines, including bodybuilding. His long-term goal is to compete and win a Gold Medal in powerlifting at the 2028 Paralympics.
